OIG Regulations and its Impact on Providers

The OIG’s regulations, while still in a proposed state, include the fact that they will investigate providers for claims of information blocking, but they will not impose the penalties themselves but will refer the provider to the appropriate agency for the appropriate disincentives. The OIG is also doubling many of the penalties for fraud that exist on the books today.
